
Basic Troubleshooting Method ("Observe, Smell, Ask, Touch")
1. Observe (Observe Appearance): Visual inspection (cracks, deformation, rust, or burn marks on the casing); oil level and color (oil level in the oil conservator, transparent to slightly yellowish oil); condition of accessories (clean bushings, discolored lead wire joints, desiccant in the breather, cooling system).
2. Smell (Identify Odors): Smell for any burnt or pungent odors, which are usually signs of coil aging, insulation overheating, joint burnt-out, or internal partial discharge.
3. Ask (Trace Data): Review operating records, inquire about parameter change trends, and compare alarm records with operating data.
4. Touch (Touch, Vibration, and Temperature Measurement): Temperature sensing (lightly touch the casing, bushings, and lead wire joints with the back of your hand); vibration analysis (combined with instrument detection of low-frequency vibration characteristics).
